Sleep... And CDs

When I crawled home around 5pm yesterday I decided it's a good idea to go to bed and sleep for couple of hours.
As a result I had 15 hours sleep and 2 more hours of slow lazy awakening this morning. So eventually got out of bed at 10.
Feeling relatively alive now.

Plans for today: roast chicken, bake apple pie, and start clearing up the CD mess. For someone who had a CD-phobia 8 years ago I now have too many of them. That includes DVDs as well. And I know I have some spare CDs and DVDs somewhere... Plus, there are three CDs with my photos which I'm looking for, but can't find without big clean-up.

Lots of stuff needs to be taken off my hard drives, including photos for the last... hm, more than a year. And a whole lot of thingsI got from the Net as well.

But first goes food as I last time ate between 1 and 2 yesterday...

Stupid Olympic Torch!

I'm sure you all know that stupid hoax that goes around for the last 20 years already, if you were lucky not to get it yet - you can see the description here.
Today we all got it through internal mail. Again. Totally not the first time. After a brief discussion our team made an evil plan, and the IT Guru has sent an email to all staff, with heading "Do not open me" and attachment called "INVITATAION" which was this picture:

Anime wallpapers, squee!

In case you've been wondering where to get cute anime wallpapers- I wanna share this link. I've bumped into it occasionally and found it to be really good.

Avatars! Yay!

I know you can get avatars from all around the net, and most of people seem to do it that way.
I know there are people who make avatars themselves, and I'm one of them.
I like to choose exactly what I want, and I also just like the process of making them.
I know some people post their hand-made avatars in LJs and communities, I guess it's for others to use. Some make avatars for specific orders. I've been thinking of it as well, but I'm always stopped by the thought "What if people wouldn't like it? What if I make an avatar for someone, and he/she wouldn't be happy with it?"
So only making them for myself. But people say they are nice...
Just in case: if anyone has been desperately wanting an anime avatar for a long time but couldn't get it - maybe I can help with it... Available animes would be Yami no Matsuei, Inuyasha, Weiss Kreuz, Ouran School Host Club, Loveless, Hellsing, Saiyuki, Gundam Wing. Maybe something else, but those ones for sure.
As for my own avatars, I'm planning to make a new set, this time made of manga, not anime. That means they will be black and white, and I think maybe put some inscriptions on them as well... I wanna use pictures of Count D, Q-chan, Count Cain, and Jezebel Disraeli.
I think my old avatars are also nice, and I know some people like them. Does it make sense for me to put them somewhere here, so if someone want to use them they can just come and take? Maybe make a webpage and like it to journal... I don't know. I have quite a high opinion of my avatar-making skills, but still in doubts...

slow internet...

Maxx and Wises hate me, they are slow like hell. No bellydance today, [info]clarieberry's boyfriend needs her car so she can't come. I was trying to find a bus, and Maxx and Wises showed exactly how bloody much they hate me. By the time I was able to figure out how to get there it was too late to go anywhere, I would be late anyway. Maybe it's goo I didn't go, as the shortest route will include about 15 minutes of walk in the city, plus two kilometers walk in Birkenhead. Two kilometers walk is not a problem for me when I have enough time, but with today's weather maybe it's better not to risk. It can start terribly raining any moment, I'm afraid, and then I would get to the place VERY WET, which is never fun to be *pout*. And that's not to forget I don't expect to get a lift back to city neither, I mean, I could be lucky, but more possibly - not, in this case I'll have same two kilometers walk back to bus stop, maybe in a storm, definitely in complete darkness, no idea if I find the way ok, and no idea how long to wait for the bus there. So maybe it's good I didn't go... Sad anyway.

On the way home I had to hold my bloody skirt that suddenly flied up totally to the belt level, I mean it! Trying to hold it I almost got overridden by a bus, I think the driver was scared too as he slowed down in a rush. After this getting totally wet was not that much trouble, so now I'm sitting at home trying to dry myself. Vak. Still, walking home holding the bloody skirt as much as possible to not let it strip me again was not fun. No more feminine stuff, it doesn't matter if I wear skirt or jeans anyway.

And now probably need to go cook something as I had lunch almost 6 hours ago, so start feeling a bit hungry. Maybe I'll make pancakes.
Ah, and I've tried peanut butter yesterday! I've heard a lot about it, and now tried. Interesting thing. I don't think I'll become a fan of it, but can make a nice food addition sometimes;-)

LJ is weird. Again.

When I go to post new entry it asks if I wanna load the saved draft, and I say yes just in case I had something started and not posted, and then see it's actually the last post that has already been posted. Was there some change of features that saves last post as draft if you don't have unposted draft?

Does not happen always, but often enough to make me think it's not a one-off coincidence...

More friends... More again? Wow!

A comment from [info]cat_i_th_adage made me think: what if I add a bunch of people to my F-list  whom I don't know in real life, but they are writers whose books I really-really love?
I read them in online libraries. I read them a lot and I love them. Very much.
I like reading what they write in their LJs too. It's interesting.
So why not add them here? Really, why not?
Ah, by the way - they are all Russians;-)))
Though if I found LJs of people who write in other languages and I like what they write - I would add them too.
Anyone knows if Robert Jordan has an LJ?
Or you know other writers, especially of fiction and fantasy, who have LJs?
P.S. And on top of the Russian writers list will be the author of "Night Watch" trilogy... He's actually the most popular LJ-user in Russian part of LJ.

More friends!

Just added another friend, and this time it was a long perverted way to add him.
In fact, I saw him posting in IC thread first and thought he has a cool nickname.
Then I saw pictures from the game and so was able to identify the guy, like "Hold on, I know him!"
Then I noticed that KAOS emails sent by him have same name as he used at forum.
Then I was posting comment to [info]tzadik_mossad's comment and reading what he wrote I suddenly realized that the name that guy used was actually somewhere in someone's F-list!
Yes, I have a very good memory that sometimes can suddenly give me the details that I didn't even know are kept there;-)))
So I've got one more friend now, and I'll go and comment something in his LJ to make myself visible. Especially minding the comment to that post will make lots of sense. I'm almost unable to make senseless comments, they must have sense at least for me if not for others *sigh*.
I'm generally very shy.
I wonder how many people here will believe it after me being so very naughty yesterday?
In fact, I even marked yesterday in my wallplanner with red as "Naughty Day!".
I need to add this as a tag

*fluffy hugs*

Friending - why?

From discussion in the previous post  I came to thinking how the actual friending happens.

In my own case it's usually quite easy, as I don't mind to friend new people. Two main reasons for friending are:
1) I know you personally
2) I like what you posted

Does not need to be both of those, can be just one. I don't need to meet you very often offline, and I don't need to read a lot of your posts to decide I wanna friend you.

In fact, with people whom I don't know personally it's usually one comment somewhere - in my own journal or in someone else's - that makes me interested. Then I go to have a look at that person's LJ, including Profile;-))) Pay particular attention to Interests and Friends. And avatars;-))) Then in most of cases click on "Add to Friends" button.

The idea is that if that person once wrote something I liked - they may do it again, and I wanna see;-)))

I don't expect people whom I friended to friend me back - because they may have other opinion on friending. But when they do friend me - I get very happy *squee*, I feel loved.
If someone friended me I'll sooner or later notice it (from time to time I look through my profile) and will most possibly friend back. Still, same criteria as described above apply.

With offline friends it's easier: if I know you - I'll most probably friend you;-)))

Oh, and there is one more option, though I don't use it often: I search through friends' profiles and sometimes through Diatribe profiles to see if there is anyone whom I know and who has an LJ - but is not yet in my F-list

I wonder how others do it. If you don't wanna say - then don't *blush*, but maybe you wanna share *curious-curious*

P.S. Hm, I actually do it a lot - ask people on their opinions using the word "share" - but that's how English works, ne?;-)))

LJ friends

Found an interesting thing. I have some people in my Friends list who did not friend me back. If I friended them that means I wanna read them - and so I read, but the fact that they didn't friend me back holds me from commenting. It's like "They didn't friend me so they are not interested in me, how can I intrude into their space with my comments?"

ecards - squee!

The terrible thing about that ecard website I use is that they have most of card romantic-love-oriented. So when you go and choose a nice card for someone who is your good friend and family member, then get in to see the actual card - you can find intimate details there that will definitely indicate you've chosen wrong card;-))))))))))))

But nevertheless, they have lots of really nice cards. However, maybe you people know other good sites with cards? I like sending cards so would be interested to have a look if you can advise something you think is nice.

*thankful hugs*

Men magazines

A friend posted in her LJ an interesting question - do men magazines also write how important it is to take care of your look, train your muscles, be slim, blah-blah, and that will lead you to having a lot of sex.
People who commented on that didn't have single opinion, but some say there is a bit of it in those magazines...

Dunno what to think;-)

What should I think of spam that says "Become the man you have always wanted to be"?
I just really don't know how to react.

And the ads in my LJ now have St. Wolfgang Hotel Deals. Gosh, I don't know what to think of this neither, as in light of upcoming St Wolfgang Vampire Hunters larp the hotel thingy looks suspicious.

By the way, congratulations to everyone with the weekend that has at last arrived;-)))

LJ trouble - anyone else has that?

Is it only me or others too get the comments notifications delayed? Not all of them, and not always, but it happens sometimes that I see no new messages in Inbox, and an hour later there is new message but I can't find it, scroll down, and discover it's backdated to couple of days ago...
I'm already used to comments sometimes falling to the Bulk folder, but recently when I noticed sudden increase of stuff there and checked - I found a whole bunch of emails on LJ comments, and all backdated for several days, while I'm sure that half a day before that they were not there...
The way to find for sure is to check LJ itself... though is difficult with replies to your comments in others' LJs. But at least with my own one seem to work.
